Penrhipyn Cottage
Penrhipyn
was originally a blacksmith’s shop, the 19th century
traditional Welsh cottage is built of river-stone with traditional
features throughout including exposed oak beams and wooden
flooring. The bedrooms offer wonderful views across the valley
.Located
in the idyllic hamlet of Gwernogle, in the heart of the Cothi
valley, Penrhipyn is a beautiful and tranquil rural retreat.
Situated
on the edge of the Brechfa forest and close to Llanfihangel
Rhos-y-Corn mountain and Gorlech Trails Abergorlech, Penrhipyn
is an ideal base for walkers and cyclists or for those who
just want to get away from it all. Lock-up and washing facilities
for up to 6 bikes availiable

Cosy
and beautifully furnished lounge with an open fireplace, exposed
stone wall and wooden flooring. Includes SKY TV, DVD/video
and CD player.
The
open pine and oak stripped staircase leads to the two upstairs
bedrooms and bathroom.
A delightful downstairs bedroom leads from the lounge, this
is well suited, ground floor, accommodation for those with
limited ability. 
Large, fully equipped farmhouse kitchen (c/w electric cooker,
microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine) with blue slate
floors and traditional pine dining table and chairs.
Features
exposed oak beams with unique iron lighting crafted by a local
blacksmith.
There are two double bedrooms and one twin, with wooden flooring
and distressed furniture. This double bedroom is on the ground
floor. A cot is available by request.
The well equipped and wonderfully airy second bathroom is
also situated on the ground floor
The second double bedroom with wooden flooring, distressed
furniture, and Egyptian cotton bed linen.
Both the upstairs bedrooms feature exposed beams, plus breathtaking
views of the tranquil gardens and rolling hillside beyond.
Penrhipyn
Cottage has two bathrooms, one with shower, one with bath.
Fresh cotton towels provided.
Beautiful
landscaped garden with mature trees and shrubs and a lovely
hand-crafted pergola. Ideal setting for relaxing and al fresco
dining. Rustic garden furniture provided.
A great place to relax in after a hard day's "holidaying".Off-road
parking is located at the back of the property, with room
for three vehicles, leading to private access to the cottage.
This area also offers a mountain bike lock-up building with
facilities for washing muddy bikes, and adequate storage for
wet/muddy clothing
Directions
From roundabout at end of M4 take the A48 exit to Carmarthen.
3 miles after passing Crosshands roundabout leave A48 at the
junction to the National Botanical Gardens (B4310).
Follow the B4310 where it crosses A40 to Nantagaredig and
continue towards Llansawel. Some ½ mile after passing
through the village of Brechfa leave the B4310 where the road
forks at the junction to Gwernogle.
Continue for approx 2 ½ miles into the village passing
the Chapel and Post Office on the right hand side.
Penrhipyn is some 50 meters from the Post Office after continuing
to the top of a short steep hill.
